Most valuable premier league squads 2021/22
Value of every Premier League squad with Arsenal just seventh despite huge transfer spend and Man Utd above Chelsea
Arsenal may have spent the most money in the summer transfer market, but their extravagance has resulted in them having the sixth most valuable squad in the Premier League this season.
This transfer window, Mikel Arteta’s side spent £121million on players such as Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, and Martin Odegaard, among others.
The Gunners’ squad valuation, according to reliable aggregator Transfermarkt, is just slightly more than that of Everton, who spent virtually nothing in the transfer window.
Manchester City, who have smashed the British transfer record with a group of talents worth in excess of £1billion, are the team to beat in the coming months.
The signing of Jack Grealish was somewhat offset by the sales of Lukas Nmecha, Jack Harrison, and Ivan Ilic, while Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia were given away for free as a result of the signing.
Despite having SIX fewer players than second-placed Manchester United, the defending champions are worth about £100 million more than their nearest rivals.
The total value of the Red Devils’ 28-man team is £843.5 million, which includes the inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo and his £40 million ‘value’, which is double the amount the club paid for the goalscoring phenomenon.
Chelsea and Liverpool are hardly distinguishable at little over £790 million in third and fourth place, respectively, before a £150 million or more drop to Tottenham in fifth place.
Unsurprisingly, Harry Kane is regarded as the club’s most valuable asset, with a market value of £108 million.
Leicester City nudge Arsenal out of sixth place in the value league by a mere £1.5 million, putting them in sixth place overall.
At £493 million, the Gunners are the third-most expensive team in the Premier League, a fact that will provide comfort to their fans.
Bukayo Saka is the highest-valued player at Arsenal, with a valuation of £58.5 million, despite the fact that the club’s published valuations for White (£25 million) and Ramsdale (£10 million) suggest they may have overpaid for their recent signings.
It also represents a significant decrease in Arsenal’s perceived value, which was valued at more than £600 million in April by the same metric.
The top ten is completed by Everton, Aston Villa, and Wolves.
Villa, along with Manchester City, has the smallest squad, consisting of only 22 players.
Their count of 10 foreign players is also the joint-lowest in the Premier League, alongside Burnley.
West Ham are the final team with a roster valued more than £300 million, despite the fact that they are the second-oldest.
Watford are at the bottom of the table with a team worth £119 million, despite having spent only a net of £4 million in the transfer market since being promoted.
Burnley moved up to 19th place after splitting the newly promoted sides, while Crystal Palace’s £66 million spending spree has propelled them to 16th place, with £215 million in the bank and within striking distance of Southampton and Newcastle.
