More uniform adjustments are being made by the police.

More changes to the uniform have been revealed, this time impacting the beret and caps, as well as when they are worn.

According to AIGP Asan Kasingye, chairman of the Police uniform committee, the police advisory council chaired by the Inspector General of Police decided that beginning today, officers in offices will wear pick hats and berets for those in operations.

“The beret is the uniform of choice for officer operations. This means that any officer wearing the general duty uniform (khaki) and working in operations, Counter Terrorism (black), Filed Force Unit (camouflage), or Anti Stock Theft Unit would always wear the beret because their job requires them to be on the move,” Kasingye explained.

Instead, he proposes that all police officers wear berets when on patrol, and that the dress code at the workplace be a pick cap on the head.

“We believed that the general public should be aware of this information.”

The pick cap was only to be worn as a ceremonial uniform by officers until 2007, but according to the latest regulation, it will also be worn by officers when in their individual offices, with the beret being used when out on operations.

The all-white outfit for traffic cops was replaced earlier this year with khaki trousers, a white elastic belt, and a whitish beret for male officers, and unique caps for female officers.

More alterations were made, with previously khaki sleeves being replaced with white sleeves.

According to police, the alterations are intended to give their personnel a fresh new image.
