Mom is detained after burning her two daughters for stealing bean sauce.

Police in Nakasongola have arrested a 27 year old woman for allegedly burning her two daughters for stealing bean sauce.

A 27-year-old lady was detained by Nakasongola police on suspicion of burning her two daughters for stealing bean sauce.

It is stated that Justine Namuwonge, a resident of Kyabutaika, Kakooge town council in the Nakasongola region, burned her two biological daughters, Hajara Nassuuna, age four, and Fatuma Nagenda, age six, both students at Kamukamu Nursery school in Kakooke, for allegedly stealing sauce.

The assistant superintendent of police for the Savannah district, Sam Twiineamazima, stated, “Preliminary information indicates that at around 2pm Namuwonge lit a charcoal stove and burnt the hands of her children after alleging that they had stolen the sauce.”

He claimed that Namuwonge kept her girls at home instead of sending them to the hospital to receive medicine after burning them.

However, Namuwonge was arrested after the police were notified of the situation by a teacher named Resty Kwagala, who lives in the Namunsaala zone of the Kakooge town council.

Police claim that statements from witnesses have been recorded and that a case of torture has been initiated against the mother, who is 27 years old.

“While the suspect is being held at the Kakooge police station while investigations are ongoing, the victims have been admitted to Kakooge Health Center III for medication.”
