After Tottenham slammed Arsenal for postponing the north London derby, Arteta has vowed to ‘fight Arsenal tooth and nail’. MIKEL ARTETA has fired back at Arsenal’s detractors, promising to protect his club ‘with teeth and nails.’
The Emirates chief is furious at the backlash he’s received since the North London derby was postponed on Sunday.
Despite only one positive Covid case, he said the club did everything by the book when the game was called off.
Spurs released a statement criticizing the judgment, implying that Arsenal had taken advantage of a weakness in the Premier League’s rules.
“We will not allow someone to harm our name or try to mislead about things that haven’t happened,” Arteta responded.
“We lacked the players to field a squad capable of competing in a Premier League encounter.” That is absolutely certain.
“Anyone who claims that we’ve been trying to do something we haven’t is lying. And you don’t get offended when someone lies to you.
“We were annihilated in the first three games of the season because we were without a lot of key players.
“People warned me, ‘Don’t be so naive.’ Don’t play with your kids if you have that many out.
“We played in the FA Cup against Nottingham Forest with ten players missing, and now we’ve postponed a game for all the right reasons, and we’re getting these comments.” It’s a lose-lose scenario.”
He also said that not every team has been as open as Arsenal when it comes to postponing games.
“We have never, ever publicly questioned any of that when a team has come to us and stated they cannot play,” he said.
“You have to expect individuals to respect the rules, to be honest, and to attempt to keep the competition’s integrity.”
“I agree that the regulations should be more clearly defined, but you must do it from the outset.”
“It’s tough and a little bit deceptive to urge someone to change midway through the season when you want to be truthful.”
“If the game is turned off for only Covid, we’re playing a different game with other rules.”
“Are we checking PCR or lateral flows every day, twice a day?” What are we attempting to accomplish?
“Since we can’t give all of our players a full MRI exam every day because no one would be able to play football.”
“We didn’t have even 11 players available on Sunday, but we did everything perfectly.”
“You must prove individual evidence, including all MRIs and Covid cases.” You must lay everything out on the table, explain everything, and answer additional questions.
“That’s why we have the Premier League, the FA, and the regulators to conduct due diligence, which takes a long time to postpone a match.”
“We’ve been having trouble with numbers all week.” We’re hoping to get some players back against Liverpool, but they’ll be in poor shape because they haven’t trained in a long time.”
