Man was arrested for making bombs.

During interrogation, the suspect told them he had arrived with another coworker who has since vanished, according to the source.

In Pader town council, Pader district, a joint security team comprised of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and the Joint Anti-Terrorist Task Force (JATT) detained a guy suspected of being a terrorist.

On Thursday, the suspect was apprehended at the Atimikica Guest House in Pader town council, where he had rented a room with another colleague on the run.

According to one of the guest house employees who desired anonymity owing to the sensitivity of the case, the suspects checked into the guest home on Thursday morning.

They were apprehended during a security operation in Pader town council to monitor hotels and lodges ahead of the funeral of former Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj Gen Paul Lokech on Friday at his ancestral home in Paipir village, Luna Parish.

Gen. Lokech’s remains arrived from Kampala yesterday aboard a military chopper that landed on the playgrounds of Archbishop Flynn Secondary School.

When the suspect was requested to show the security people his room, he attempted to flee but was apprehended, according to a senior security official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Uganda Radio Network.

According to the source, they discovered electric cables, pliers, half a basin full of bicycle ball bearings, a detonator, a bulb, an unknown powdery substance and liquid in a bottle, a digital watch, and jackets with porches packed with ball bearings when he unlocked his room.

During interrogation, the suspect told them he had arrived with another coworker who has since vanished, according to the source.

The suspects planned to detonate the explosives during Gen. Lokech’s burial on Friday, according to a security officer who requested anonymity.

The arrest of the suspect was confirmed by Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson David Ongom Mudong.

According to Ongom, intelligence inputs indicate that the suspect, who is not a local resident, is involved in criminal activity.

He said the suspect, who is being held at Pader Central Police Station, is being interrogated, and that his accomplices are being sought.

Security has since been increased at the burial place and throughout the district, according to Ongom.

By the time of publication, the guest home had been cordoned off as a crime scene, with a team of plainclothes security officers and the Police Bomb Squad on the scene.
