A 39-year-old man is being detained by the police after hitting Hon. Musa Ecweru, the minister of state for works and transportation, in the Amuria area.

A 39-year-old man is being detained by the police after hitting Hon. Musa Ecweru, the minister of state for works and transportation, in the Amuria area.
The event occurred on Sunday, June 26,2022, at around 11:30am in Wera parish, Wera sub-county, in Amuria district, according to ASP Ageca Oscar Gregg, the PRO East Kyoga.
Okurut Micheal, a male adult of 39 years old, entered the sanctuary for the Sunday service at St. Micheal Catholic church with the other worshippers.
He took a knee and received his blessings.
After that, Okurut stood up and, unexpectedly, slapped the preacher as he was preaching.
After then, the minister’s security quickly restrained him.
No harm was done to the Minister’s person, according to Gregg.
At the Wera Police Station, an assault case was opened, and statements were taken.
While enquiries and an investigation are made, the suspect is being held at the same station.
Gregg continued, “Updates shall accordingly be available when they are ascertained.”
Honorable Ecweru is also the elected Member of Parliament (MP), representing Amuria County, Amuria District.
