In the event that Leandro Paredes moves to Manchester United this summer, he could need to reconcile with Fred. The Argentine, who fell to the ground politely after a threatening straight-on altercation with Fred back in 2020, is allegedly the subject of ongoing negotiations between United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Erik ten Hag is enthusiastic about a variety of goals to help his midfield, as is well known. The fact that players like Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard all left the team for free transfers this summer makes this much evident.
Halfway through the team’s preseason trip, Christian Eriksen is eager to reunite with the group, but a deal for Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona has been plagued by problems. According to Sky Italia, Paredes is also being considered, with negotiations moving forward after initial inquiries with PSG.
The 28-year-old has played at Parc des Princes since approximately 2019, and his resume also includes stints at Roma and Zenit. The arrangement will likely require roughly £30 million to be completed.
If the transfer proceeds to that point, it might become more necessary to meet up with Fred after their warmed Champions League trade in 2020. The two came off the ball with no holds barred, and after the Brazilian thrust his head forward, Paredes was left staggering on the grass.
The referee examined the incident using pitch-side screens before dubiously showing a yellow card, which is usually a reliable red. Joined star Rio Ferdinand spoke to Fred as a “lucky child” for his role in the show, which most definitely did not lead to the players developing a bond after the game.
Paredes’ appearance would threaten Fred’s chances of getting regular game time, which would make the situation noticeably more heated. Although fans endured a fruitless mission under Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the last cleared himself relatively well last season, but Ten Hag is apparently not completely satisfied with the crop now at his disposal.
The Old Trafford faithful would have likely expected United’s transfer business to be further along at this point, with many calling for a significant shift during the summer transfer window. Only Tyrell Malacia has been confirmed thus far, and while others are expected to follow suit, the new manager already has a lot on his plate, including the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Dutchman explained that “he isn’t with us” in Thailand for personal reasons. “For this season, we are making arrangements with Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s all, and I’m looking forward to working with him.
“Cristiano is part of our plans, and we must succeed together. I spoke with him and we had a good conversation. Me and Cristiano are having [the conversation]. But I can say that we had a really good conversation.
