MANCHESTER UNITED are set to play arch-rivals Liverpool in a pre-season friendly in the Far East, according to reports.
According to the New York Times, the match in July could take place in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok.
United and Liverpool had hoped to play each other in pre-season last year.
However, they abandoned their intentions after fan protests at Old Trafford forced the postponement of their Premier League match.
Club executives on both sides, on the other hand, are eager for the bitter rivals to meet in front of a large crowd on the other side of the planet.
In the Far East, Manchester United and Liverpool are two of the most popular football teams. And a match between the two would draw a lot of media attention. Next month, the two teams will play in the league for the first time.
United will be seeking vengeance after a devastating 5-0 loss at home in October.
Indeed, the Red Devils have not beaten Liverpool in the Premier League since March 2018, losing four and drawing three of the last seven matches.
United did, however, manage to knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup last season with a thrilling 3-2 victory.
And if their pre-season friendly in Thailand is approved, supporters from all across the world will be watching.
