Makerere University suspends 15% annual tuition increment

The 15 percent annual tuition increase at Makerere University has been halted for two years owing to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Prof “Today, the Makerere University Council put a two-year moratorium on the 15 percent yearly tuition fee increase. I appreciate the Council’s positive response to the COVID-19 situation,” Nawangwe stated.
The University Council approved a 15% tuition increase, which began with new students in 2018/2019.
After protesting the 45 percent and 91 percent increases requested by the university council earlier that year, the student guild proposed a 15 percent increase to the university council.
