Maj Gen Don Nabasa is Museveni’s new Military Police Commander.
Prior to his deployment to Somalia, Nabasa was the commander of Uganda's Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite organization in charge of the President's security and special operations.
According to Bazzup, President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces, has nominated Maj Gen Don Nabasa, the previous head of the Special Forces Command, as the new Military Police commander.
According to sources, Nabasa was replaced in the mini-changes published Monday evening by Brig Keith Katungi, who has now been assigned to Somalia as the Contingent Commander, a role Nabasa held until today.
Prior to his deployment to Somalia, Nabasa was the commander of Uganda’s Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite organization in charge of the President’s security and special operations.
Maj Gen James Birungi took over as SFC commander in his place.
Maj Gen Don Nabasa was then dispatched to China for a one-year training course at the National Defence College, and after finishing the course in August of last year, he was sent to Somalia to take over as the Contingent Commander of Ugandan troops fighting under AMISOM, succeeding Brig. Richard Otto.
On October 15, Nabasa assisted with the decoration of UPDF soldiers who had been honored with medals in recognition of their remarkable commitment to restoring peace and security to the turbulent Somalia under AMISOM.
AMISOM presented medals to the soldiers from Battle Group 30, who had finished their one-year tour of duty, at a ceremony in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Bazzup has learned that when his one-year term of duty in Somalia expires in December, he will take over as the new Military Police chief.
