Lionel Messi’s £26 million Barcelona hotel has been ordered to be demolished

Lionel Messi's £26 million Barcelona hotel has been ordered to be demolished because the 77-room structure does not fulfill city regulations.

LIONEL MESSI’S week may be over after his £26 million hotel was reportedly ordered to be razed  because the 77-room structure does not fulfill city regulations.

Now, the striker’s £650,000-a-week salary could be jeopardized when his 77-room hotel was found to be in violation of local regulations.

Messi’s four-star hotel, the ‘MiM Sitges,’ is close to the private estate where he stayed during his time in Barcelona and was one of his favorite spots to visit.

A court order for the property’s demolition is presently pending, according to El Confidencial.

Messi spent £26m on the Hotel MiM Sitges back in 2017

They even asked Messi’s camp for a statement, but neither he nor his squad chose to respond.

Messi, whose Majestic Hotel Group operates hotels in Ibiza and Majorca, invested £26 million on the Hotel MiM Sitges in 2017, which is little over 100 feet from the coastline.

However, according to the new investigation, he did so without realizing that Sitges Town Hall had previously ordered its demolition due to code violations.

One of the issues is that the balconies are excessively large; nevertheless, the entire structure is dependent on them, and their reduction or removal could result in the building toppling.

According to the latest reports, the fire emergency strategy also failed the authorities.

The rooftop Sky Bar was a big hit with those who stayed at Hotel MiM Sitges

Messi is thought to have only learned of the demolition order after being approached by a journalist for comment.

The hotel has 77 rooms, including five junior suites and one suite, and a typical room costs roughly £105 per night during peak season.

However, it is the Hotel MiM Sitges’ rooftop Sky Bar that sets it apart from the competition, with a pool, stunning panoramic views of the town and the Mediterranean Sea, and a wide selection of cocktails.

The hotel he owns was found not to meet city standards

Aside from treatments and massages, the hotel features a top-of-the-line spa with a hydrotherapy circuit (only £25 per person) that comprises a sauna, Turkish bath, sensory showers, a leisure pool, a cold plunge tub, and a saltwater pool.

Messi also cares about the environment, as evidenced by his car selections.

Hotel MiM Sitges was created in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner, with 80 percent of the building’s materials being recycled or recyclable.

The hotel has tanks that collect waste water from each shower, which is then filtered, cleansed, and treated before being used in the toilets and for plant watering.
