Since leaving Barcelona, the Argentine superstar, 34, has struggled in Paris, scoring just ONE goal in 12 Ligue 1 games while donning his new No30.

Players must line up in Nos 1-11 rather than their allotted Ligue 1 squad numbers due to French Cup rules.

With Neymar out due to injury, Messi was granted a one-time opportunity to wear the No. 10 he made his own at Barcelona.

But it didn’t work out for him, as he went 120 minutes without scoring.

Despite Kylian Mbappe’s second-half substitution for the ineffectual Mauro Icardi, PSG and Nice drew 0-0 in their last-16 match, forcing the game into extra time.

The match went to penalties as neither team was able to break the draw.

PSG’s first kick was taken by Messi, who found the back of the net.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team were knocked out after misses from Leandro Paredes and sub Xavi Simons.

Messi’s last domestic goal came in a 3-1 loss to Barcelona in November.

On December 7, the ex-Barcelona striker scored twice in a 4-1 Champions League victory over Club Brugge.

However, he has been worryingly aimless since, with living in the French city proving to be more difficult than anticipated.

PSG’s next league game is a challenging journey to Lille on Sunday, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
