Lawyer Mabirizi sues Museveni for abandoning new name, Tibuhaburwa
Legal counselor Male Mabirizi has hauled President Yoweri Museveni to court for forsaking his new name, Tibuhaburwa that he officially took on in 2020.
On October 6, 2020, Museveni swore a revelation to amend his names and have them written in legitimate request as per the law on the enrollment of names.
“I officially and totally revoke and forsake the utilization of names Yoweri Museveni, Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and expect and take on instead of those names my complete name Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni,” he said in his deed survey.
Notwithstanding, on Tuesday, legal counselor Mabirizi hurried to the Civil Division of the High Court in Kampala contending that the president has kept on utilizing Yoweri Kaguta Museveni rather than the new name of Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni on all conventional archives which he says is illicit.
“By Deed survey dated sixth October 2020, YOWERI TIBUHABURWA KAGUTA MUSEVENI officially and totally revoked and deserted the name YOWERI KAGUTA MUSEVENI and proclaimed that he will consistently from that point in all records, deeds and instruments recorded as a hard copy and in all events that require the utilization of his complete name, sign the name of YOWERI TIBUHABURWA KAGUTA MUSEVENI,”Mabirizi says.
As indicated by the legal counselor, Museveni was designated by the Electoral Commission to represent administration that he won under the new name, adding that it isn’t right to keep doing state obligations utilizing the old and deserted name.
“On May 12, 2021,, the said YOWERI TIBUHABURWA KAGUTA MUSEVENI made vow as President of Uganda for 2021-2026 term. Notwithstanding, ensuing archives were endorsed by Yoweri K. Museveni holding out as President, and not YOWERI TIBUHABURWA KAGUTA MUSEVENI, selected and pronounced by the Electoral Commission,” he says.
The legal advisor contends that it is illicit for the president to add signature on reports utilizing a name he deserted last year, adding that the individual who marked the records isn’t the leader of Uganda.
Mabirizi needs court to proclaim all mandates and arrangements made by the president since his political decision unlawful since the individual “chosen” and “sworn-in” are unique in relation to the one making arrangements.
“Since the name Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was officially and totally revoked and deserted, it is unlawful to sign in that name and any record gave in that name is illicit, invalid and void,” Mabirizi says in a suit where the Attorney General has been recorded as the respondent.
