Prior to Sunday, September 9, Independence Day celebrations at Kololo ceremonial grounds, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and President William Ruto of the Republic of Kenya met. On October 9, Uganda will commemorate 60 years of independence.
The First Lady, Rachel Ruto, came on Saturday afternoon with President Ruto.
Hillary Okello Oryem, the minister of state for foreign affairs, met them at Entebbe International Airport.
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni afterwards greeted President Ruto at the Statehouse in Entebbe.
Ruto tweeted that his meeting with President Museveni was wonderful and added, “The Kenya-Uganda friendship is growing stronger.”
Recent remarks by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the former Commander of the UPDF Land Forces, seemed to cause a diplomatic rift between the two friendly nations.
General Muhoozi asserted in his tweets that he and “his army” could seize Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, in two weeks.
Later, President Museveni would express regret for General Muhoozi’s careless tweets.
The visit by Ruto and his meeting with President Museveni further solidifies their great and cordial relationship.

This was also manifested at Ruto’s swearing in ceremony where he called President Museveni the father of the Region.
Ruto and Museveni had met seven times before the 2022 Kenyan General Elections.
