Sheila Kyarisiima of Uganda is the only non-Kenyan on the National Investment Council thanks to Kenyan President William Ruto’s appointment.

“Humbled to join a remarkable group of individuals on H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto’s National Investment Council for Kenya. Kyarisiima tweeted, “Looking forward to working with all the council members to promote Kenya’s investment goal.

Paul Russo, Group CEO of Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, CEO of Twiga Food, and businessmen Humphrey Kariuki, Ahmed Farah, Karen Taylor, Sarah Ochieng, Eva Warigia, David Langat, Tom Mulwa, and Francis Njogu are the other members.

In addition to advocating for collaboration between the public and private sectors in the creation and implementation of government policies relating to the economy and investment, the team will provide advice to the government on how to boost investment and economic growth in Kenya.

The council members’ three-year terms will begin on November 30, 2022.

Sheila is a partner of NISK Capital, an East African-focused boutique corporate financing and transaction advising firm.

The Nairobi-based financial company assists small and medium-sized businesses with capital raising and business expansion.

She has successfully managed the raising of up to $1 billion for a range of customers, including blue-chip companies and quickly expanding SMEs in the markets of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

She also serves as chair of the board’s credit and audit committees and is a director of Mayfair-CIB Bank.

Kyarisiima has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brown University, an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MPA-ID from Harvard Kennedy School, and an MPA-ID from Harvard University.

According to Kyarisiima, who is passionate about sustainable economic growth, both the public and private sectors can contribute to its realization. According to a remark from her on the Harvard Business School Alumni website, “I want to play a part in enabling African enterprises to access global markets and think strategically.”

She most recently served as an analyst and advisor for the Rwanda Development Board in Kigali while employed at Goldman.
