Katikkiro Mayiga pushes for the reopening of proper schools.

According to the Katikkiro, there should be clear criteria on the continued vaccination of teachers and non-teaching personnel that are time-bound so that they are effectively vaccinated in order for schools to operate.

Katikkiro In the midst of the current pandemic, Charles Peter Mayiga has urged the government to create a solid roadmap for reopening schools in the country.

He believes that the first step should be to vaccinate all teachers and non-teaching employees.

According to the Katikkiro, there should be clear criteria on the continued vaccination of teachers and non-teaching personnel that are time-bound so that they are effectively vaccinated in order for schools to operate.

When schools reopen, he claims, this will prevent them from becoming a breeding ground for Covid-19, as they were previously when many children and teachers were afflicted with the virus.

According to Mayiga, the longer schools are closed, the more grim the children’s future becomes, as many have turned to economic activities like selling masks on the side of the road.

He also claims that the economy is suffering as a result of the large number of individuals who are unemployed and hence not earning.

Mayiga was speaking at a celebration in Bulange Mengo, where a group of Buganda loyalists from several sub counties in Mukono and Buikwe district contributed 8.7 million Shillings to support kingdom activities.
