Adeke Anna, a Soroti Woman MP, and Doreen Nyanjura, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Kampala, were arrested while protesting Dr. Kizza Besigye’s incarceration.
The two were leading other activists from the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) pressure organization to protest their leader’s incarceration as well as rising commodity prices on Monday.
Hon. Adeke, Nyanjura, Wokuri Madanda, Kizito, Susan, and Alice, leaders of the Red Card Front’s Women Brigade, were arrested at Wandegeya, according to the Red Card Front.

“…as they did an on-the-spot assessment of how high commodities prices affect women in Wandegeya,” Red Card Front said in a tweet.
“They also demanded that Dr. Kizza Besigye be released.”
They have been arrested and are being held at Wandegeya Police Station.
Besigye, who was arrested for protesting high commodities prices, was denied Shs30 million bail last week and was remanded at Luzira Prison.
Since then, his supporters have demanded his quick release, while his lawyers, led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, have filed an appeal against the bail judgement.
