During the plenary session on Tuesday, the motion to establish Mountain of the Moon Institution in Fort Portal as a public university was met with strong opposition from legislators from Busoga, who questioned why government had overlooked Busoga University.

The question of providing Busoga University the status of a public university, according to Kadaga, is just awaiting confirmation from the Church of Uganda, the organization that founded it.

When he handed over the office, Kadaga informed the legislators that work on the Marine University at Namasagali, Kamuli district, had begun.

The former speaker recommended the new leadership to concentrate on matters that will improve the subregion’s level of living.

The new leadership stated that in addition to supporting growth, their main focus will be on forging unity among the area’s leaders.
