ENGLAND goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is the subject of a police investigation following a pub brawl after fans taunted him for having “T-Rex arms.”
His friends were enraged, and a riot erupted in East Boldon, South Tyneside.
One of the lads suffered a damaged nose, while another had his phone destroyed.
Pickford, 27, and his buddies had already departed when police arrived. Officers are conducting an investigation and are looking for witnesses.
There is no evidence that Pickford, who cost £30 million, assaulted anyone.
The brawl took place at the Beggar’s Bridge pub in East Boldon, South Tyneside, approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday.
“He was getting goaded, like they do,” a witness stated. The only thing I heard was ‘small arms,’ and that was it. It got started. As soon as they walked in, it happened. They hadn’t even had the opportunity to have a drink. One of the boys had his nose fractured.
“Pickford was unharmed in any way.” As soon as it started, he was out the door. Before the cops arrived, Pickford’s gang boarded a minibus.”
One of the star’s group shattered the phone of a young man who was documenting the incident, according to the witness.
The altercation occurred just days after a Newcastle United fan dressed up as a Tyrannosaurus Rex at a match to mock Pickford, who used to play for Sunderland’s rivals.
Everton were defeated 3-1 by Newcastle on Tuesday of last week.
Pickford appeared to smile as he approached the Leazes End at St James’ Park and saw the dressed-up fan.
Supporters of other teams, including Merseyside rivals Liverpool, mock him with chants like “He couldn’t touch the cross bar, he’s only got little arms.”
Pickford made history in Russia in 2018 by saving a crucial penalty kick against Colombia to help England win a World Cup penalty shootout for the first time.
A year later, he was involved in a pub brawl after watching Sunderland lose the EFL Trophy Final on penalties to Portsmouth.
After the all-day binge, the footage appeared to show him throwing two punches.
Pickford was not arrested despite the fact that an off-duty bouncer was hurt.
The actor grew raised in Washington, Tyne and Wear, and now resides in Cheshire with his childhood sweetheart Megan Davison, 25, and their two-year-old son Arlo.
Following the event on Sunday, no arrests have been made.
“We received a report of a disturbance at the Beggar’s Bridge bar,” a Northumbria Police spokesman said.
“It was alleged that a fight broke out inside the premises between two groups of males.” An investigation is now underway. “Police are asking anyone with knowledge to contact them.”
Everton did not respond to a request for comment.
