Italy – Napoli: Victor Osimhen best Nigerian striker in Serie A history

Napoli performed admirably on Saturday. Victor Osimhen helped the Partenopei win (2-1) on the Atalanta field. The latter seized the chance to add a lovely page to history.

Victor Osimhen is in excellent condition. The striker scored against Atalanta again after scoring a hat-trick the previous weekend.

A goal that was crucial in two ways: first, it helped Napoli maintain its advantage over Milan (35 points to 29 points) and, second, it helped Osimhen become the best Nigerian striker in Italian championship history with 32 points.

Simy Nwankwo is now behind Victor Osimhen. In Serie A, the latter has 31 goals. He now competes in Serie B for Benevento.

Obafemi Martins, who totaled 28 goals for Inter Milan, is located on the first step of the podium. Osimhen has scored nine goals so far this season, leading the Italian league.

Osimhen’s performance and the outcome
However, the 23-year-old striker’s performance against Atalanta could have gone entirely in a different direction. Another Nigerian, Lookman (19th), scored the Dea’s first goal after Osimhen’s missed penalty. Offended by this fact of play, the former Lille player scored an equalizer with a header four minutes later before assisting Elmas with the game-winning ball in the 35th minute.

In the 75th minute, Osimhen eventually deserted his comrades. The replacement was supported by his coach, Luciano Spalletti. Atalanta’s “really huge game” was praised by his coach Luciano Spalletti.

“He was a little tired, in my opinion, but he put in his effort and did what he had to do,” said Spalletti. Napoli will be able to rely on its Nigerian striker to get past the Indian sign as it chases the Italian championship it won thanks to Diego Maraddona in 1990.
