First set of prisoners freed from Gaza is delivered to Israel
Jerusalem, Israel | BAZZUP | First set of 13 prisoners freed from Gaza Strip welcomed by Israel’s Shin Bet internal security service on Friday, according to local media.
The hostages were being taken back to Israel by security forces following the initial medical evaluation, according to a statement released by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson Daniel Hagari.
Following their transfer from Gaza to Egypt, the 13 hostages—all of them were women and children—headed for Israel. According to the IDF earlier, they will be moved to an army base in southern Israel where they would receive physical and psychological evaluations before being sent to hospitals for any necessary medical attention.
In hospitals, the families of these captives are waiting for them.
Ten more Thai and one Filipino national were freed by Hamas on Friday, according to a social media announcement made by the Qatari Foreign Ministry on X.
At 7 a.m. local time (0500 GMT), the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, came into force this morning. Israel will receive the captives on Friday and then free 39 Palestinian inmates as part of the agreement.
Near the West Bank city of Ramallah, at Israel’s Ofer jail, busses carrying over 39 Palestinian inmates left on Friday night, according to confirmation.
Within the next three days of the ceasefire, a similar procedure will take place, with the release of 150 Palestinian inmates held in Israeli jails and the release of 50 hostages in Gaza.
