Virat Kohli, India’s captain, has been in a slump for the previous two years, failing to hit an international century. In the current Pataudi Trophy Test series against England, he has again failed to deliver.

As a result, he’s been chastised for his inability to produce with the bat. Nonetheless, according to ANI, former Indian bowler Ajit Agarkar believes the former’s accusations are unwarranted. He was fired after a few of excellent deliveries, despite the fact that Agarkar believes he is a modern-day great.

Kohli scored runs against all of the bowlers in the side in England in 2018, but he has been vulnerable to seamer James Anderson this time, according to Agarkar. Furthermore, bowling outswingers gives the ball the most chance to pinch the bat, as batsmen find it tough to play when delivered at the fourth stumps in English conditions. Agarkar described Kohli’s dismissal to Sam Curran in the second Test, saying the Englishman produced a good deception. Kohli has already made an impression on the international circuit, despite his desire to score more runs.

He also believes that his desire to score runs in the series has caused him to collapse early this time owing to a lack of the same. However, he has reiterated that Kohli should not be assessed just on the basis of three innings, and that dismissing a modern-day legend is never acceptable.

After winning the second Test at Lord’s, India now leads the five-match series 1-0, while the visitors were denied a chance to win the first Test in Nottingham owing to rain on the final day. The third Test will begin on Wednesday in Headingley, Leeds.
