Police have detained a PITCH invader who appeared to PUNCH Keinan Davis during Nottingham Forest’s 4-1 FA Cup triumph over Leicester.

During the first half of Sunday’s encounter, the person made their way onto the City Ground field as Forest players celebrated Joe Worrall’s 3-0 goal.

Pictures captured on live television showed the invader scuffling with Forest players in horrific scenes, including goalscorer Davis appearing to be punched.

However, quick-thinking ground security personnel quickly bundled the individual to the ground.

The intruder was finally apprehended on the sideline by police, who then escorted them off the field.

“We have detained a guy in connection with an incident that occurred today during the first half of the Nottingham Forest and Leicester City FA cup match,” Chief Inspector Neil Williams said.

“Investigations are still in the early stages, and we’re still looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

“The club is outraged by such behavior and extends its apologies to Nottingham Forest and its players whose safety was jeopardized,” Leicester said in a statement after the game.

“We praise the quick action taken by City Ground stewards in apprehending the man involved, who will be barred from all Leicester City home and away matches for the rest of his life.”

“We will provide all necessary assistance to the proper authorities in taking further suitable measures.”

Gary Lineker, a former Foxes midfielder, slammed the pitch invader’s conduct on Twitter, writing: “@LCFC should ban for life whoever the so-called supporter was who ran onto the pitch and threw punches at @NFFC’s players. It’s a disgrace and an embarrassment.”

Police quickly arrested the pitch invader

The first match between bitter rivals Nottingham Forest and Leicester in eight years took place today.

Around 4,000 Foxes supporters attended the game at the City Ground.
Before the game, Nottinghamshire Police had issued a warning to supporters regarding their behavior.
