Mexico and Panama drew 1-1 in CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday, with Jesus Corona scoring an equalizer in the 76th minute.
The home team took the lead in the 28th minute when Roland Blackburn pounced on a deflected shot and tucked it home.
On a rainy night in Panama City, Corona scored after he grabbed a ball that rebounded off the post and smashed it past keeper Luis Mejia.
Mexico now has seven points after three games, two points ahead of Canada, which beat El Salvador 3-0 earlier in the day.
Mexico also has a two-point lead over Panama, which has five points after two draws and one win, like Canada.
On October 7, Mexico will go to Canada, while Panama will host El Salvador.
