In a vaccination effort organized by Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) in collaboration with Buganda Kingdom, at least 7,500 people received their COVID-19 vaccine doses.

The event was the first of its sort with a cultural institution, and it drew a significant crowd in response to the Katikkiro’s request for the people to come out in large numbers to Bulange Mengo and get vaccinated in order to support the economy’s full restoration.

“This weekend, the public response and turnout were huge. We appreciate the Buganda Kingdom’s help as we collaborate with the government to boost the public health response to the pandemic. UBL’s Jackie Tahakanizibwa, Corporate Relations Manager, stated, “We remain committed to developing creative collaborations that will enhance access to COVID-19 vaccinations and make vaccination safe and simple for the public.”

UBL and Coca-Cola have been supporting the scaling up of COVID-19 vaccinations in the larger Kampala Metropolitan region for the past two months, extending mobile immunization sites to bars, markets, and public areas.

The campaign has also emphasized public knowledge of the benefits of vaccination as a preventative step against the current pandemic.

The initiative complements Uganda Breweries’ efforts under the Bell Raising the Bar program, a USD 1 million fund established to prepare the hospitality industry for a safe reopening by establishing health measures and providing essential training to boost their capacity to reopen their businesses according to national guidelines.

“We aim to continue working with the Kingdom of Buganda to expand vaccination to more convenient sites around the kingdom.” We will also continue to collaborate with cultural institutions across the country to increase vaccination rates for the sake of public health and economic prosperity. “Vaccination will permit the relaxation of limitations that are presently obstructing business recovery,” Jackie Tahakanizibwa, UBL’s Corporate Relations Manager, concluded.

UBL has teamed up with Buganda Kingdom to host a mass vaccination this weekend in order to increase immunization rates among the general public. On Saturday, November 6th and Sunday, November 7th, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the event will be hosted in Bulange.

Due to public demand for extra vaccines, one vaccination station at Bulange has been left open to serve people who have not yet received their shots, and will remain open until Friday, November 12th, 2021.

“Vaccination remains the most effective means of combating the pandemic and restoring normalcy.” I urge all of His Majesty’s people to embrace vaccination and flock to Bulange on Saturday and Sunday to get easily vaccinated,” Al Hajj Dr. Twaha Kawaase Kigongo, Deputy Katikkiro, said.

Several mobile vaccination stations will be set up in one place, allowing people who need their first or second shot to acquire it quickly. There will be Pfizer and Astra Zeneca dosages available.

“Our number one priority is to This is the only way to ensure the economy’s full and safe reopening. Through this effort, we are privileged to be able to collaborate with the Buganda Kingdom to boost the public health response to the pandemic.”

KCCA Director of Public Health Services, Dr. Daniel Okello, speaks to the public during the immunization exercise at Bulange.
“We are grateful to the private sector for coming forward to encourage the people to be vaccinated. “This is a testament to the potential of public-private collaboration in assisting the economy’s safe reopening and bolstering the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Daniel Okello, KCCA’s Director of Public Health Services.

According to Ministry of Health figures, nearly 3.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccination have been delivered. The government has set a goal of vaccinating the majority of the people in order to allow for a safe and complete reopening of the economy.

“Vaccination is a life-saving public health measure that has been demonstrated.” We are still urging people to get completely vaccinated against COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines protect you from becoming extremely ill and dying. In addition to immunization, we urge the public to follow the established SOPs,” Al Hajj Dr. Kigongo stated.
