In the midst of Covid-19, how do you raise God-fearing children?

Developing and using biblical principles to provide proper spiritual care for children is an excellent notion that every parent would like to offer to his or her children with the assistance of a religious leader in order to instill good morals in them.

However, because of the Covid -19 pandemic lockdown, no one is allowed to visit each other for fear of spreading the sickness.

The Covid-19 shutdown has posed so many obstacles to parents in terms of spiritual life that they are unable to find time to teach their children about the fear of God because they are too preoccupied with finding food and dealing with business losses.

According to Allan Kajumba, a resident of Kyebando in Kawempe division and a father of three, the greatest approach for a parent to raise well his or her children is to train them in the fear of the Lord at an early age, which makes it difficult for them to misbehave.

Muhammed Ssentamu, a resident of Komamboga in Kawempe division, said the Covid-19 lockdown has affected them to the point where they have no time to teach their children Islam because most of their time is spent trying to recover economic losses incurred while they were in lockdown.

He explained that before the lockdown, children were transported to mosques and churches where religious leaders could teach them about God’s fear, but now that the lockdown is in place and worship centers are closed, it’s difficult.

“Prior to the pandemic, parents had the opportunity to take their children to mosques and churches to learn about the fear of God, but this is difficult today due of Covid-19,” Ssentamu stated.

How can parents juggle job with instilling God’s fear in their children?

The scriptures advise parents to raise their children in the fear of God so that they will live in the fear of God even as they grow older, according to Proverbs 22:6.

The scripture adds, “Train up a child in the way he should walk; even when he is old, he will not deviate from it.”

For other parents, the lockdown has turned out to be a blessing in disguise in terms of instilling spiritual values in their children.

The lockdown, according to Robert Nsubuga, a father of five, has allowed him to spend more time with his children than ever before.

“Before the lockdown, I would get up early and rush to work without praying with my children, but now that there is a curfew, I am able to pray with my children in the morning. “I taught them to pray before eating and to seek God for help,” Nsubuga explained.

Moses taught the Israelites God’s commands in the Old Testament in order to help them live good lives. As a result, we must base our standards on God’s. We must teach these commands to others (children), as they have been taught to us, and the scriptures describe this in Deuteronomy.
