The Proteas’ top order was then shredded by Aaliyah Alleyne’s precise bowling, which claimed the wickets of Lizelle Lee (9 (7) and Marizanne Kapp 0 in the second over, leaving them at nine for three.
Sune Luus and Tazmin Brits, the visitors’ middle-order combo, put up a spirited fight with scores of 23 (37) and 16 (17), respectively, as the visitors totaled 80.
The hosts easily batted down the Proteas’ 80-run mark after winning the toss and electing to bat first. The hosts’ only misfortune in the otherwise one-sided match was the loss of Hayley Matthews, who was caught at point by Lee off Ayabonga Khaka’s bowling for seven runs, and a few run outs near the end of their chase.
Following Matthews’ dismissal, the seasoned Kyshona Knight entered the fray to join the lethal Deandra Dottin 31. (21). With their 53-run collaboration, the two promptly wrapped up the game and led their team to a comfortable victory.
The two nations will now focus on the One-Day International format, which will begin on Tuesday, August 7 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.
