Another pastor is being held by the police Crime Intelligence Unit in Jinja district for the kidnapping and ritual sacrifice of a four-year-old girl. Israel Buyinza, a senior pastor from the deliverance and healing Ministry in Gganda-Nansana municipality, Wakiso district, is the suspect, according to police spokesperson Fred Enanga.
Prophet Joseph Sserubiri and his wife, Felista Namaganda, were arrested over the weekend for the alleged kidnapping and sacrifice of four-year-old Trinity Nakisuyi, the daughter of their landlord John Mulodi, a resident of Kakira market zone in Jinja district on September 30th, 2021.
The accused, according to authorities, first rented a garage from Mulodi to hold their church. However, the suspects kidnapped the minor and sacrificed her for spiritual abilities a few months later. Following a heightened search for the victim, they vanished.
The accused were apprehended by police in Jinja town last week. The suspects admitted to the kidnapping and sacrifice of the minor after being interrogated, and they brought detectives to River Wanyange and the sugar plantations where they buried her body.
“They showed how they cut off her head and gathered the blood,” she said. The head was then buried beside the Wanyange River. “The sugar plantation also yielded a decapitated body,” Enanga added.
“The operations were also expanded to Nansana, Gganda, where we apprehended another top pastor of deliverance and healing ministry, whom Prophet Joseph Sserubiri alleges is the one who led him into the kidnapping and spiritual sacrifice to obtain deliverance abilities,” he continued.
To avoid bad deeds, the police have requested the Interreligious Council of Uganda and other faith-based organizations to develop profiling and auditing techniques for all places of worship.
Enanga urged the general people to be more vigilant in the face of an increasing number of child ritual sacrifices. “We applaud the investigators’ efforts, which resulted in the arrest of the offenders. “We implore you to keep an eye on the case’s development in the courts of law for the sake of this family’s justice, just as we implore parents to be watchful to their children in these trying times,” Enanga said.
