Harry Maguire Addresses Manchester United Future Amidst Game-Time Admission

Harry Maguire has commented on his future with Manchester United after admitting that he has not been playing as much this season. The team’s captain only played in 11 games this season and recently led the team out against Real Betis on Thursday.

According to recent reports, Harry Maguire has expressed that he has not yet given much thought to his future with Manchester United. However, as the team captain, he finds it challenging not to lead the team out every week. Maguire made an appearance in the match against Real Betis on Thursday, where United won 1-0 in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie, with Marcus Rashford scoring the only goal. This was only Maguire’s 11th start of the season, and he has only played in six games since returning from the World Cup with England. Due to his lack of game-time and the difficulty of replacing Lisandro Martinez, there are speculations that he may leave the club in the summer.

Despite the rumors surrounding his future, Harry Maguire has stated that he has not yet given any serious thought to it, as Manchester United is still competing in three competitions. The team has already won the Carabao Cup. Maguire, who is 29 years old, believes that any decision about his future with the club should be left for a later time. He mentioned that he is training as hard as he can, with games taking place every three days. Maguire added that he is currently in a good place, both mentally and physically. He also described the training sessions as highly intense, particularly on the day after a game.

“There will be lads unhappy because they’ve not played or sat on the bench. That’s part of football, but it adds more competition and high-quality training where the lads are covering similar distances to what they do in a game. That’s a credit to the players and the coaching staff here putting on those sessions.”

Even though Harry Maguire has not given much thought to his future, the fact that he has only started in 11 games this season is not an ideal situation for a club captain and a regular international player for England. It is even more challenging for him considering that Luke Shaw, who is a natural left-back, has been preferred in a central position over him. Center-back is a highly competitive position, with Maguire competing with international defenders such as Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof for a starting spot. However, this does not make it any easier for Maguire when he is left out of the squad.

“I always want to be on that pitch and leading the team out,” Maguire added. “I want to strive to play every game for this club, but I also understand that the lads playing are playing well, really well. They’re top quality centre backs who are in good form. And that’s football. We also know that things can change quickly in football.

“We have four international centre backs at this club – and for good international sides. That’s a lot of competition and I believe that any of us could play week in, week out at a top Premier League club. Everyone is pushing each other and that’s good for Manchester United.”
