Gulu hotels blocked from hosting Salim Saleh’s visitors over unpaid bills

Without permission from his military assistant, Dennis Odwong Odongping, the Gulu Resident City Commissioner, has instructed all hotels in the city not to accept persons claiming to be guests of Gen. Salim Saleh, the national coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC).

Odongping asked all hotels to acquire official bookings from Saleh’s military adviser Col Jimmy Nkojo in a letter dated September 13, 2021. He also gave Nkojo’s contact information.

‘Reference is made to my meeting with you on April, 16th 2021 where you were requested not to receive and host any guest who claims to be the guest of Gen. Salim Saleh (CCO OWC and SPAD) without the official booking of his Military Assistant (Colonel Jimmy Nkojo on 0777007279),’ Odongping stated.

Despite their caution, he said, they had continued to receive information that certain hotel owners had persisted to accommodate individuals claiming to be Saleh’s guests.

Reservations that have not been approved by Saleh’s military adviser will not be considered, according to the RCC.

Saleh is presently based in Gulu, where he lives at the UPDF 4th Division Barracks, which has recently hosted high-profile visits from senior government officials, investors, musicians, and other visitors.

Because of the high number of visitors, most of them have booked hotels and will be waiting for days, if not weeks, to see him.

Vice President Jessica Alupo, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Luweero Triangle state minister Alice Kaboyo, and Kampala minister Kyofatogabye Kabuye are among the government officials who have visited Saleh in Gulu.

According to security sources, some of the guests’ large expenses spurred Saleh’s office to act and order that only those with official appointments be allowed to stay.

For example, some artists have been tented in Gulu for more than four months.
