Google bans 8 dangerous apps from Play Store for offering fake crypto services

Cryptocurrency mining has piqued everyone’s curiosity, especially in recent months. Hackers, on the other hand, are taking advantage of the public’s enthusiasm in cryptocurrencies by putting harmful applications on their devices that include hazardous viruses and malware. The good news is that Google has identified and removed these fraudulent individuals.

Consumers were tempted by promises of huge returns by investing money in cloud-mining operations, and as many as eight dangerous programs posing as cryptocurrency mining apps have been removed from the Google Play Store.

According to Trend Micro, the eight malicious applications were fooling consumers into watching advertising, paying for subscription services with an average monthly price of $15 (about. 1,115), and paying for enhanced mining capabilities without obtaining anything in return following an investigation. The company submitted its findings to Google Play, which promptly removed them. The point is that these applications may still be loaded on your phone even though Google has removed them from the Play Store. So, look for them on your phone and delete them as quickly as you can.

Among the eight applications are BitFunds – Crypto Cloud Mining, Bitcoin Miner – Cloud Mining, Bitcoin (BTC) – Pool Mining Cloud Wallet, Crypto Holic – Bitcoin Cloud Mining, Daily Bitcoin Rewards – Cloud Based Mining System, Bitcoin 2021, MineBit Pro – Crypto Cloud Mining & BTC miner, and Ethereum (ETH) – Pool Mining Cloud.

Two of these apps, according to the research site, are premium apps that consumers must purchase. According to the firm’s blog, approximately 4,500 individuals were affected internationally between July 2020 and July 2021 by these programs, which do not have bitcoin mining capabilities and mislead users into watching in-app advertisements.
