The sixth matchday of the Malta Guinness Women Premier League was mixed in the Northern zone. At the Aliu Mahama sports stadium on Friday, Pearl Pia Ladies hosted Tamale Super Ladies.
In the 15th minute, Georgina Ayisha Aoyem gave the home team the lead, and in the 29th minute, Francisca Torkudzor added a second goal from the penalty spot. With a goal in the 48th minute, forward Francisca Torkudzor scored twice in the match to give the home team the victory.
At the Bantama Astro Turf on Saturday, Dreamz Ladies FC defeated Ashtown Ladies FC 2-0. The home team was able to win it all thanks to goals from Sarah Nyarko in the ninth minute and Stella Nyamekye from the penalty spot in the 42nd.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies continued their winning streak against Candy Soccer Academy with yet another outstanding performance. In a nail-biting 8-goal thriller at Dormaa’s Nana Agyemang Badu Park, the Nanamma prevailed.
After a wild afternoon, Ophelia Serwah Amponsah and Mary Amponsah each scored three goals for the visitors, while Perpetual Tuah scored Candy Soccer Academy’s consolation goals.
Southerly region
In a thrilling five-goal game at the Achimota School Park, Faith Ladies FC overcame Police Ladies FC thanks to a comeback. Police Ladies took the lead in the opening minute of play thanks to a lovely finish from Mary Berko, who helped the home team get off to a strong start.
Maafia Nyame’s goal for the Faith ladies in the 14th minute brought the score even, but Grace Animah’s goal in the 37th minute insured the security service side would win the first half. After the break, the visitors returned and pushed for an equalizer, which was eventually achieved in the 56th minute by Mafia Nyame.
In the 63rd minute, Faith Ladies FC’s Portia Nana Prempeh scored a stunning goal to give the visitors the full three points.
On Saturday afternoon at the Elwark Sports Stadium, Hasaacas Ladies’ unbeaten streak came to an end after they were defeated by Army Ladies FC. In the 18th minute, Nancy Opoku scored a strong goal to put the home team in front after getting past the western giants’ defense.
When Erica Appiah turned up and outdueled goalie Grace Banwa to score Army Ladies’ second of the game in the 45th minute, Coach Basigi’s team lost once more.
After game day 6, Hasaacas Ladies attempted to come back and score in the second half, but their efforts were in vain, as they suffered their first loss of the year.
