All league centers have concluded match day five of the 2022–2023 Ghana Women’s Premier League. Hasaacas Ladies have won all five of their league contests this season, extending their undefeated streak in the Southern Zone. Over the weekend at the Robert Mensah Sports stadium, the Police Ladies finally achieved their first victory of the year.
Hasaacas Ladies, who are currently leading the Southern Zone League, upheld their supremacy in the region on Saturday by defeating Ridge City Women FC 4-0 at the Gyandu Park. Doreen Copson, who was in great form, gave coach Basigi’s team the lead in the 32nd minute of what turned out to be a crushing workout.
Before Firdous Yakubu scored a hat trick in the 73rd and 76th minutes to secure the victory, Veronica Kumah Baah added the second goal in the 48th minute.
With three losses and two draws in their past five games, Ridge City FC is still looking for their first victory of the year.
This season, Police Ladies FC has now won once after five attempts. At the Robert Mensah Sports stadium, the security service team, who had yet to win this year, defeated LadyStrikers by a score of 3-0.
Deborah Afriyie, Jane Ayieyam, and Bernice Appreh Arhinful all scored goals to give Police Ladies their first victory of the year.
After defeating league-leading Pearl Pia Ladies 4-0 over the weekend, Northern Zone Ampem Darkoa Ladies are back on top of the standings. Ophelia Serwah Amponsah broke the game’s tie in the 10th minute for the Nanamma, and Mary Amponsah added a second goal in the 35th, giving the Nanamma a comfortable 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.
After the break, the home team increased their effort to score additional goals, and Victoria Osei scored in the 76th minute. With a goal in the 90th minute, Mary Amponsah completed her hat trick to give Ampem Darkoa Ladies a commanding home victory.
Northern Ladies FC defeated Candy Soccer Academy by 5-2 in a thrilling 7-goal game at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium. Northern Ladies, who had only won once so far this year, managed to win by a wide margin in their second game.
The Tamale-based club won it with a brace from Faiza Seidu, two goals from Abdul Rahman, Pearl Forson, and an own goal by Florence Baah Appiah. Both Florence Baah’s goal in the 66th minute and Perpetual Tuah’s penalty kick goal in the 80th minute were insufficient to save the premier league debutants.
