General Kandiho is welcomed by IGP Ochola.

President Museveni's appointment of Maj Gen Abel Kanidho as Chief of Joint Staff has been praised by the Inspector General of Police, John Martins Okoth Ochola.

President Museveni’s appointment of Maj Gen Abel Kanidho as Chief of Joint Staff has been praised by the Inspector General of Police, John Martins Okoth Ochola.

On Tuesday evening, Ochola said, “The IGP looks forward to working with Major General Kandiho in overseeing, leading, and delivering strong leadership that supports the force’s vision, purpose, and principles.”

Gen. Kandiho, whom Museveni had dispatched to oversee the assembling, screening, demobilization, and integration of South Sudan’s military forces on behalf of the guarantors, was summoned by Museveni on Tuesday.

As a result, he was named Chief of Joint Staff to replace Maj Gen Jackson Bakasumba, who has been dispatched to South Sudan.

Gen Bakasumba was also congratulated on his new appointment by Ochola, who also praised him for his contribution to police during his time as Chief of Joint Staff.

Kandiho, Gen

Many people were surprised when Gen Kandiho was recalled from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and dispatched to South Sudan two weeks ago. Such choices are uncommon.

Those with security knowledge, on the other hand, have praised the action, saying it will help to safeguard the country’s safety.

Many have speculated that Gen Kandiho, who has been at the forefront of busting terror networks and acquiring crucial intelligence in the war against terrorists, will bring this amount of experience and expertise to the Police Force to guide in the execution of intelligence-led operations.

Others claim that moving him to South Sudan at this time, when the fight against terrorists, including the ADF, is still going on, was a mistake, and that as the “head boy” of Police Directors, he will provide much-needed guidance as police conduct joint operations with sister security agencies in the fight against terrorists.
