Lt Gen (rtd) Henry Tumukunde, a National Resistance Army (NRA) bush war hero, commended his late comrade Col (rtd) Ahmed Kashillingi as a versatile and skilled leader.
At the funeral for the recently deceased in the Rukungiri area of western Uganda, Gen. Tumukunde was giving a speech that was read for him.
“Dear bereaved, My sincere sympathies are extended to the NRA/UPDF family, the people of Kebisoni, Rukungiri district, and in particular the family of our deceased comrade Col (rtd) Ahmed Kashillingi.
I’m one of the few Bush War veterans still living that is from this general region. Our collective efforts may not be as well-remembered now, and as a result, they might not have as many supporters. I must therefore discuss Ahmed Kashilingi’s tenure on earth.
He claimed that the late Kashillingi led an extremely adventurous life and shown confidence in both himself and the larger group.
He was skilled at making a good first impression on everyone around him. He served with the utmost dignity and led an honest life like the majority of our people.”

The former minister of security claimed that Kashillingi was one of the most adaptable and strong leaders.
He claimed Kashillingi had the advantage of proper instruction and the individual capacity to use his knowledge and abilities.
“He was a brave officer, and his soldiers had the utmost confidence in him. He was in every way a commander.
“He demonstrated outstanding professionalism and integrity while we served together in the President’s Office (civil deployment). He was a terrific buddy to his coworkers, and when necessary, he would vehemently express his ideas. I’m happy to see how much of himself his children have inherited, especially those I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know.
“We have lost him before his time, but we pray that the Almighty will welcome him in his glory,” he said in his conclusion. I want to express my sympathies to the family once more. May his soul rest in peace forever.
Yesterday, Gen. Tumukunde attended the vigil in Kampala and bid the family farewell as they traveled to the Rukungiri district for the funeral.
