Gen Kayihura salutes Uganda’s 2020 Olympics heroes with 16km run
Previous Inspector General of Police on Sunday ran a distance of 16 kilometers in his farm house in Kashagama, Lyantonde region out of appreciation for the competitors that addressed Uganda at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, the Japanese capital.
“Earlier today, along with my staff we ran 16kilometrs in our lovely undulating Katebe, Kashagma to celebrate and respect our saints of the Tokyo Olympics and the greatness they have brought to our nation Uganda,” Kayihura said in an explanation.
Uganda won four decorations, two of whom were gold sacked by Police’s Peruth Chemutai in the ladies’ 3000 steeplechase race and world 5000m record holder, Joshua Cheptegei who prevailed in the men’s 5,000m finals as the group completed second in Africa, just beneath Kenya and 35th generally. Talking about the accomplishment, the previous Police boss thought back a 2012 task he started to select and engage competitors in the power.
“I say thanks to them for satisfying beyond anything I could ever imagine their vow in Kapchorwa after I tested them that one day, we should share the Olympics gold and different decorations with the incredible Kenyan competitors across the line. It is at some point back yet I’m certain they actually recollect,” Kayihura noted.
