The German is thinking about making a comeback to management. Graham Potter will be replaced as Chelsea’s manager by Julian Nagelsmann if he decides to change his mind. Potter lost his job at Chelsea on Sunday night after only 12 of his 31 games as manager were victories.
Even though the German is currently without a club, Nagelsmann soon became the favorite to succeed him permanently.
He dismissed himself during the most recent international break, and Thomas Tuchel was brought in by Bayern Munich to take his position. Concerns about Bayern’s success in the Bundesliga prompted that choice, and Nagelsmann is now debating his next step.
According to Sky Germany, Nagelsmann was supposed to take a break from administration until the summer. However, those intentions might be changed now that the Chelsea position is open.
He still has a close connection with Blues technical director Christopher Vivell from their time spent together at RB Leipzig. The combination of Vivell’s influence and Chelsea’s all-star roster makes Stamford Bridge an alluring option.
Nagelsmann could be persuaded to return to management right away, despite the fact that it initially looked he would take a break after being fired by Bayern.
They must now contact him to convince him to join as the ball is supposedly in Chelsea’s court. The German boss and the Blues have not yet had any conversations.
On Monday, when Chelsea starts looking for Potter’s successor, that might all change. Chelsea will then speak with Bayern if they can convince him to take Potter’s position. Bayern has threatened to require a compensation fee, so those negotiations have not yet started.
The move to fire Potter was justified by co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, who made no mention of a potential replacement.
Instead, they encouraged supporters to unite for the remaining games of the season. “We want to truly thank Graham for his contribution to Chelsea on behalf of the entire club. Graham is a coach and a person for whom the two of us have the utmost regard.
“We are all disappointed in this result because he has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity. We will all be supporting Bruno and the squad as we concentrate on the remainder of the season, along with our incredible fans.
“We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high.”
