Jack Wilshere believes Declan Rice would be a “great match” for Arsenal this summer.
After declining numerous offers to stay at West Ham this summer, the 24-year-old has been strongly connected with moves away from the club.
Mikel Arteta supposedly wants to add another midfielder to his squad this summer to help him deal with the pressures of playing in Europe, and the Emirates has emerged as a prospective destination.
Arsenal’s participation in the Champions League for the upcoming season is all but assured, and Rice is excited to participate.
Following Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Ukraine, I had a talk with Oleksandr Zinchenko of Arsenal, which only served to fuel rumors.
Meanwhile, Wilshere, who had a brief time with the team from 2018 to 2020 and temporarily paired Rice in the Hammers’ midfield, has seen enough to know he would excel in north London.
Wilshere: Hopefully, it’s Arsenal
While a number of teams, including Chelsea, are interested in signing the Englishman, Wilshere, who presently oversees Arsenal’s under-18 team, is keeping his fingers crossed that Rice will decide to sign with Arsenal in the summer.
Wilshere told the PA news agency that the midfielder is versatile.
“Everyone who backs a club would want Dec to sign on.
Arteta would bring out the best in him, according to Wilshere, who disclosed that he had private chats with the West Ham captain.
In north London, Wilshere continued, “If I’m speaking from a selfish point of view, I think he would be extremely good under Mikel’s guidance.”
“Mikel would grow him, bring him on even more, and he’d be huge for the team too,” the author said. Dec and I have spoken, and I’ve told him that what he is doing is incredible; he is the captain of a major Premier League club and is always learning.
“You have to show respect to West Ham because that is his club, but his future is in his own hands and it’s extremely exciting for him because he has everything with him now and is learning more and more, developing into a player who could play anywhere,” the speaker said.
“I’m excited to follow him wherever he goes. It would be a huge signing and a wonderful fit if it were Arsenal.
