As soon as he arrives, he leaves. Nayef Aguerd could know such a fate. Not because he was bad for his first season in the Premier League with West Ham, but because he was above average to the point of attracting the interest of the big teams of the English championship.
West Ham had the flair to recruit Nayef Aguerd (27). But the Hammers had to wait for the services of the Atlas Lion, bought for €33.5 million from Rennes last summer. As soon as he arrived, Nayef Aguerd was injured for two months before becoming operational again. And since his first full game against Leeds, during the 19th day of the Premier League, the Moroccan central defender has not been out of the starting eleven. Even better, he plays 90 minutes in each game, becoming the control tower of the Hammers.
The performances of Aguerd are excellent until attracting the biggest teams of the English cream, including Liverpool and Tottenham. For the Reds, the defensive line has been a major topic of discussion in recent times. The bad form of some of the defenders pushes Liverpool to be in search of a new central defender. And Aguerd would be the first target of Liverpool’s scouts. West Ham should not oppose the departure of the Moroccan international in case the Reds or only one competitor aligns to recruit Nayef Aguerd. The Hammers have already set the price of the latter at 59 million euros (about 60 billion Fcfa).
Tottenham set to dribble Liverpool
If Liverpool sees in Nayef Aguerd the player who could boost the competition against Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk, the Reds should therefore press the pace. Behind them, there is the threat of Tottenham who are also in the ranks. Spurs want a quality addition to their central defense next season. Nayef Aguerd could be exactly what the club needs. Aguerd is known for his ease in aerial duels, which could make him a valuable addition to any team.
