Wydad Casablanca used the draw from AS FAR to close the gap. In the final game of the twentieth day of the “Botola Pro D1 inwi,” the Red and White defeated Ittihad of Tangier (3-0) on Tuesday at the Mohammed V Center in Casablanca.

Thanks to Bouly Junior Sambou, the Casablanca team swiftly started the battle when facing the bottom side (5th). The Senegalese forward doubled the advantage just before the half-hour mark (in the 26th), scoring his 13th TTC goal and 9th league goal. Before halftime, Mohamed Ounnajem would add to the score (his 32nd), thanks to the inspiring words of Mouaid Ellafi, the leader of Libya.

Upon his comeback from injury, Bouly Junior Sambou, who is currently joint-top scorer in the tournament alongside Hamza Hannouri of FUS, has been in excellent form. In the previous four matches in “Botola,” the Senegalese have scored six goals. The day before, he also scored in the CAF LDC matchup with Petro Luanda (2-0).

Wydad now has 42 points after this victory in the tournament, two fewer than AS FAR, the leader. Excellent news before the heated Casablanca Derby, which is slated to take place the next day but whose date has not yet been set.
