The reason of a fire that destroyed the dormitory housing S.2 students at Mary Reparatrix Girls’ Secondary School Bugonga, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District, is being looked into by Entebbe police.
At around 9 o’clock on Tuesday night, the incident took place.
The family of the school bursar detected an unusual smoke, which prompted their maid to go and inspect, according to Luke Owoyesigyire, the KMP Deputy PRO.
The family of Specioza Kaijukyo, the school bursar, reportedly noticed an odd scent of burning material while they were eating dinner, which led their maid, Mirembe Elizabeth, to go outside and investigate.
When she noticed large flames coming from the dormitories for seniors two, she instantly called her employer for assistance. “In due time, the police were notified,” he claimed.
The team from the Entebbe fire prevention and rescue services arrived and extinguished the fire.
Owoyesigyire stated that the ash samples and flat iron that were found by the teams from Criminal Investigations and the Scene of Crime officers had been displayed for analysis.
“Other observations were made, and following the investigation, the team will provide recommendations and feedback. The fire did not result in any injuries or fatalities. The incident is still being looked into, he said.
