Geneva, Switzerland | BAZZUP | The 2027 Women’s World Cup bidding process was officially begun by FIFA on Thursday. For the first time, the FIFA Congress will elect the host nation for this tournament.

The Council chose the previous Women’s World Cup hosts, but on May 17, 2024, the Congress will elect the host(s).

According to the governing body, the FIFA Council will choose up to three bids to send to the Congress for a vote.

Before April 21, 2023, member associations are expected to submit their expressions of interest. FIFA will then arrange on-site inspections in February 2024.

FIFA will create a Task Force for Bid Assessment to assess all bids, and a third party will be brought in to check on FIFA’s adherence to the rules and procedures of the bidding process. In order to ensure that they are complying with the bidding procedure, each bidder will also need to name a bid compliance and ethics officer.
