FDC’s Mwijukye claims lives of two children in car crash
At least two persons were killed when Hon Francis Mwijukye, a Buhweju County Member of Parliament, drove his luxurious vehicle into two pedestrians in Buwama Town on the Kampala-Masaka route.
At least two persons were killed when Hon Francis Mwijukye, a Buhweju County Member of Parliament, drove his luxurious vehicle into two pedestrians in Buwama Town on the Kampala-Masaka route.
The collision included Hon Mwijukye’s car, which was registered as “MP WAITU,” and a motorbike with the registration number UDX 577E, whose owner was not immediately recognized, according to Katonga Region Police Spokesperson Lydia Tumushabe. Tumushabe identified the two pedestrians as 13-year-old Florence Nabukenya and 9-year-old Lubyayi Tadeus, both residents of Mbizinya in Buwama Town Council.
The wounded motorbike rider was brought to Gomba Hospital in Mpigi District, while the lifeless corpses of the deceased were taken to the morgue for postmortem inspection.
Mpigi District Traffic Police Department, commanded by Natumanya Albert, arrived at the scene of the collision and transported the car and wrecked motorbike to Buwama Police Station for inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles.
To aid in the investigation, the case of a tragic accident was recorded at Buwama Police Station under the reference number TAR 45/2021. MP Mwijukye Francis had been involved in two such accidents in the last two years. Similarly, NUP Chief whip John Baptist Nambeshe escaped an accident in Njeru trade center on the Jinja-Kampala highway. Nambeshe was unharmed, but his vehicle was damaged and is currently being held by Njeru police.
