Erik ten Hag expresses Marcus Rashford plans amid Man United contract negotiations & PSG interest

Erik ten Hag thinks Marcus Rashford would be best suited at Manchester United despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The highest scorer for United this year is 25-year-old Rashford, who has improved under Ten Hag’s guidance. Nine of his 17 goals have come in the last nine games, giving him a total of 17.

After activating his one-year extension late last year, the forward’s contract only has 18 months left, thus Ten Hag will be trying to sign his star player to an extended deal at Old Trafford.

When queried about the status of the contract negotiations with the Englishman, Ten Hag responded, “I can’t answer. “The conversations between clubs and players are, of course, private.

“I believe he recognizes that Man United is his club, first and foremost, but I also believe that he is playing his greatest football in this setting and with this team. He’s getting better, and that’s all because he’s focusing on the right things, giving it his all, and having a strong strategy. I also believe that he can contribute his strengths to this team.

“So this team can assist him in finding the proper location to score goals where he excels, so also with this team his qualities are emerging. I believe he is aware of that, yet he is still crucial to our success and is required for it.

The Dutchman has given Rashford a significant offensive role this year, and he will be essential for United as they attempt to end their six-year trophy drought.

However, PSG seems to be the Englishman’s likely destination if he decides not to extend with The Reds after their president indicated interest in the United winger in the summer.

Ten Hag is undeterred by this desire, though.

However, the manager insists that Rashford would be happier at United and views it as evidence of the team’s progress.

“I hope all our players are getting interest from other clubs because it means we’re doing a good job and the team is outperforming, so that is what we are aiming for,” added Ten Hag. “Then I would say this is the best place to be because we want to construct the best team, first in England and then in Europe, and then in the world.”
