DPP slaps terrorism charges against ADF chief behind Queen Elizabeth tourist murders
Jane Frances Abodo, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), has sanctioned two charges of terrorism, three charges of murder, three charges of aggravated robbery, and one charge of belonging to a terrorist organization against an ADF commander recently seized by the UPDF.
Kyoto Abdul Rashid alias Njovu alias Tembo was caught earlier this month by the UPDF on Lake Edward in an early morning operation in which two of his fighters were killed and others escaped.
Prosecution-guided The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) launched investigations. As a result, Kyoto Abdul Rashid was apprehended during a UPDF Marine Forces operation on Lake Edward. “Two of his associates were shot dead, and others managed to escape in a boat with their weapons,” claimed a DPP official.
She said Njovu will later today be produced to the Nakawa Chief Magistrates court to answer the said charges.
