ADF commander slain in Boga town during Operation Shujja

In the continuing operation shujja against the group’s locations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Abu Aden, one of the rebel Allied Democratic Forces-commanders, ADF’s was slain.

According to Major Peter Mugisa, the spokesperson for Operation Shujja, Aden, a Somali national, was killed together with six other ADF fighters near Malulu, roughly seven kilometers north of Boga town in the DRC.

When the rebels approached them asking for instructions to Mitego, he claims the joint UPDF and Congolese forces under the elite Special Forces Command acted on a tip from the local population.

Abu’s killing, according to Mugisa, is a major victory for Operation Shujja, and it also shows that ADF rebels have deep ties to Alshabab terrorists and ISIS international terrorists.

Following a series of attacks on civilians in both nations, the UPDF and Congolese government troops commenced coordinated operations against the ADF in the eastern areas of the DRC in November last year.
