The transaction had been questioned because neither team had publicized it before the midnight CET deadline, but LaLiga verified that they had received the papers on time and had not granted any extensions.
Barca completed a busy deadline day by allowing Emerson Royal to join Tottenham Hotspur, Rey Manaj to join Spezia, Ilaix Moriba to join RB Leipzig, and Antoine Griezmann to join Atletico Madrid on loan.
Barca also announced that Sergio Aguero has signed a contract with the club after first-teamers Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets agreed to a wage cut for this season and a payment deferral for the following years of their contracts.
