CRISTIANO RONALDO announced tonight that one of his infant twins died shortly after his partner gave birth to them.
After their “angel” newborn baby sadly died, the football icon, 37, told the world about his and Georgina Rodriguez’s anguish.
In October of last year, Cristiano and his partner Georgina, 28, announced that they were expecting twins, a boy and a girl.
However, the Manchester United star announced to his followers today that their baby son had passed suddenly.
Despite his “deepest anguish,” he claimed his baby daughter is “giving us the power to survive.”
“It is with our profound regret that we have to report that Ronaldo has passed away,” Ronaldo said on social media.
“It is the most excruciating pain that any parent can experience.
“Only our baby girl’s birth has given us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We want to express our gratitude to the doctors and nurses for their outstanding care and assistance.
“We are absolutely crushed by this loss, and we respectfully want privacy during this terrible time.
“You are our angel, our beautiful child. You will always be loved by us.”
He released the graphic image online this evening, along with Portuguese and Spanish translations.
Ronaldo was already a father of four before Georgina became pregnant, with three of his children born to two surrogate moms.
“Delighted to announce we are expecting twins,” he and Georgina captioned a lovely photo of themselves holding their baby scans in October.
“We’re bursting at the seams with love and can’t wait to meet you.”
Ronaldo is the father of Cristiano Jr., 11, Eva and Mateo, four, and Alana Martina, three, whom Georgina gave birth to.
He’s now a father of five, thanks to his newborn daughter.
Georgina met the Portugal sensation in 2016 while working for £10 an hour in a Gucci store in Madrid.
She is said to have captured his attention in the VIP section of a Dolce & Gabbana event.
Georgina has followed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner from Madrid to Turin and then Manchester as he transitioned from Real Madrid to Juventus and eventually Manchester United.
She was recently photographed wearing a pink outfit and driving an old school yellow Corvette.
She raved on Instagram in March this year about Ronaldo being the “greatest dad in the world,” along with charming photos of their cute family.
After the awful news broke, Katia Aveiro, Ronaldo’s sister, wrote a heartbreaking tribute.
“I love you and my heart is with you over there,” she posted on Instagram.
“May God watch over you and continue to enhance your journey.
“Our little angel is already on his father’s knee,” says the mother.
“And our little child, who is here firm, strong, and healthy, will continue to teach us that love is all that matters.”
Following the tragic news, tributes poured in for Ronaldo and his family.
“Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother,” Manchester United star Marcus Rashford said. “Please accept my heartfelt apologies.”
“Desperately terrible news,” Piers Morgan remarked.
“This is heartbreaking news. Gary Lineker wrote, “Sincere sympathies to you and your family.”
Usain Bolt, the Olympic champion runner, also left three praying hand emojis on Cristiano’s post.
“Your sadness is our pain,” the official Manchester United account posted on social media.
“At this time, I’m sending love and strength to you and your family.”
In the Spanish capital, Georgina gave birth to her daughter Alana Martina at the University Hospital Quironsalud Madrid.
It was speculated that she may have given birth to the twins in the same hospital, but the couple has not confirmed this.
