Criminal summons issued against MP Ssegirinya for demanding Kyagulanyi’s Presidential victory
Ssegirinya is accused of demanding Kyagulanyi’s Presidential victory through incitement to violence.
Kawempe North Member of Parliament Mohammed Ssegirinya has been summoned to appear in court and continue his trial.
Ssegirinya is accused of inciting violence to demand Kyagulanyi’s Presidential victory.
Following a request from State Attorney Ivan Kyeyune of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Marion Okello Ayo issued the summons on Friday.
“Today, neither Ssegirinya nor his attorney Jonathan Kiryowa appeared in court. “I pray that Ssegirinya receives a criminal summons,” Kyeyune stated.
According to court documents, Ssegirinya was apprehended at the intersection of Kikuubo lane and Mini-price traffic lights, along with five other people in suits and a swarm of youth holding signs that said, “Free our Presidential win.” ‘Release James Mubiru, Eddie Mutwe, and Nubian Lee.’
Ssegirinya, who is free on bond, is accused of committing the crime on March 22, 2021 in Kampala.
The case was postponed to September 21, 2021, by the magistrate.
