ROME, Italy | BAZZUP |Anita Among, the speaker of Uganda, met Pope Francis after the general audience to cap off her visit to Rome.

Pope Francis, who visited Uganda in 2015, welcomed Among and engaged him in conversation for a short while.

One claimed that she was in Rome at the Holy See’s request. “Be worried over nothing, but in all things by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God,” she said on Twitter after the meeting. Philemon 4:6.

In the last ten years, several Ugandan politicians have been welcomed in Rome, and a record three Popes have traveled to Uganda since 1969.

Uganda became the first African nation to host three different reigning popes after Pope Francis’ visit there in 2015.

Pope Paul VI only traveled to one African nation—Uganda—during his fifteen years as pope. In 1969, he arrived in Uganda. In February 1993, Pope John Paul II followed.
